Pakistan Petroleum Limited Successfully Tests Gas Well in Adam D&PL Area, Boosting Energy Sector Amid Crisis

PPL-achieves

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) announced on Tuesday the successful drilling and testing of a gas well in the Adam D&PL Area, located in the Hala Block of Sindh province. The company disclosed this development in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

Operating with a 65 percent stake in the block, PPL described the Adam-2 well as a challenging endeavor fraught with risks and uncertainties. The well was drilled to a depth of 3,421 meters and tested to produce approximately 6 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 450 barrels per day (BPD) of condensate. The Wellhead Flowing Pressure (WHFP) was recorded at approximately 740 pounds per square inch (Psi) with a 32/64-inch choke size.

The gas extracted from the well will undergo processing at the Hala Gas Processing Facility before being supplied to the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL). PPL emphasized that this development will augment hydrocarbon reserves, aiding in bridging the gap between supply and demand in the energy sector, particularly amidst the ongoing energy crisis in the country. Additionally, it is anticipated to contribute significantly to saving foreign exchange for Pakistan.

Mari Petroleum Company Limited, holding a 35 percent stake, is PPL’s joint venture partner in the block, which spans an area of approximately 395 square kilometers across the Sanghar and Matiari districts in Sindh.
